Storytellers in Sunday School
Sunday School starts on September 20th 2015! Families can worship and enjoy refreshments together at the beginning of Coffee Fellowship. The children will be gathered from the Fellowship Hall at 10:30 to meet in the Sunday School rooms downstairs until 11:00.
Our focus will go back to the telling of traditional Bible stories…ones that teach and bless children with encountering Jesus and the love of God. We seek to have interactive, focused sessions that keep kids engaged and to create an inviting opportunity for volunteers. Instead of “classes” and “teachers”, the heart of Sunday School will be Storytelling. Children will meet in in grade-level clusters to hear favorite Old and New Testament stories, read by members of Our Saviors; after hearing the Bible story, the Storyteller will help kids get closer to the story with interesting questions and short activities
The Christian Education is seeking members of the congregation to share their love of Christ by being a Storyteller. The only “qualification” is to be interested in the young members of Our Savior’s. The story, resources, place and support will be provided. Rather than the full-year or semester commitment of a traditional Sunday School teacher, Storytellers can choose dates that work best; most of all, the time commitment on any given Sunday is small, but the joys are great! On Rally Sunday (September 13th), the team will have a table for more info, registration for the children and sign-ups for Storytellers. Stop by to see what’s ahead and to get involved!
